In a monumental step forward in combating drug trafficking, the Rapides Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) unit has recently carried out what is being described as the most substantial marijuana seizure in Grant Parish history. This groundbreaking news was confirmed by Sheriff Steven McCain of the Grant Parish Sheriff’s Office.
The diligent investigation led to the discovery and confiscation of just over 70 pounds of high-grade, prepackaged marijuana. According to estimates, the seized marijuana holds a staggering street value of $586,224. The operation didn’t stop at the drugs, though. Agents also unearthed an assortment of firearms—two shotguns, a handgun, and an AR-15 rifle—signifying a substantial victory in the ongoing battle against drug-related crime.
The successful investigation culminated in the arrests of two individuals. The first, David Hollis, 57, of Antonia Hill Road in Pollock, faces a number of serious charges. These include Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Illegal Carrying of Weapons with Drugs, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, along with an outstanding warrant.
Charles Dupuy, also 57, and of Antonia Hill Road in Pollock, was taken into custody as well. Dupuy was arrested for Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and for a Probation and Parole Violation.
The diligence and tenacity displayed by the RADE agents in this case serve as a robust reminder of the ongoing commitment by our local law enforcement to rid our community of illicit drugs and ensure the safety of our residents. This case is a significant step forward in that mission and stands as a testament to what can be achieved through persistent and determined law enforcement efforts.
